EV Charger Installation
in Dallas-Fort Worth

Buying an EV charger is the easy part. The installation is what matters — a properly wired Level 2 charger in your garage, backed by a panel that can actually handle it. Grizzly Electrical Solutions handles the full installation from panel capacity assessment through final inspection, for every make: Tesla, Ford, Rivian, and all universal J1772/NACS units.

Level 1 vs Level 2 — what's the difference

Level 1 is the 110V plug that comes with most EVs — plug it in overnight and you get maybe 3–5 miles of range per hour. It works, but it's slow. Level 2 runs on 240V and gives you 20–40 miles of range per hour, which means you can top off your battery overnight without worrying about range for days.

If you're driving an EV regularly, Level 2 is the one worth installing.

Hardwired vs NEMA 14-50

You've got two main options for connecting a Level 2 charger:

We'll recommend the best approach based on your panel layout and the charger you're planning to buy.

Check panel capacity before you buy

This is the one step people skip and regret — buying a charger only to find out the panel doesn't have the spare capacity to handle it. Your home's panel has a limited amperage budget. Add a Level 2 charger (which typically draws 30–50 amps) on top of HVAC, appliances, lighting, and everything else, and you might be overloading it.

We assess the panel first, then size the charger circuit accordingly. If the panel needs an upgrade to handle the load, that's covered in our panel upgrades page. Get the panel sorted before you buy the charger — saves you the cost of returning the unit.

What install day looks like

Most installations are a half-day job. We pull the permit with the local DFW jurisdiction (required in almost every city in the area), run the 240V circuit from the panel to the garage location, terminate at the breaker and the charger or receptacle, and do a final test. We coordinate the inspection — you don't need to figure out the city process.

Everything's rated for all makes: Tesla Wall Connector, Ford Home Advanced Charger, Rivian charger, and any J1772 or NACS universal station.

What affects the cost

Again, every home is different — but here's what drives the price:
